Meet Matteo 4.0
/This extraordinary guy is born from the awesome imagination of Dave Foreman. Matteo is made from Bionicle LEGO pieces and is packed full of detail. I can imagine Matteo skulking the streets of Victorian London late at night, hiding in the shadows as he makes his way to deliver a potion. He carries a gas lamp and a messenger bag - which contains books, a magnifying glass, medicine bottle and syringe. His cane is topped with a red spider eating a snake and he wears a bat pendant and pocket watch. Matteo's cape and hat make me think he's quite the gentleman . I wonder what the keys on his belt are keeping locked away...?
Centaur Knight
/This centaur knight by nobu_tary is a fantastic mashup of Knights Kingdom, Bionicle and Hero Factory, with just a little bit of System thrown in for flavor. All seamlessly blended into one fantastic fantasy character. Combine that with the pose and the photography and it all comes together to near perfection.
Happy Easter...Or Else...
/When someone mentions old Peter Cottontail you might be inclined to imagine a fluffy little bunny, or maybe even a fairly big bunny, all cheerful and delivering eggs. But not builder Thirdeye88, to him the bringer of eggs is a ripped uberhare with a Batman t-shirt. Happy Easter everyone!
Fómhar
/A cooling of the air, a wisp of wind from the north, warm colors on the trees and pumpkin spice at Starbucks, must be fall. Builder Pate-keetongu is celebrating the seasons in a series of builds, this one is fall, and she's a beauty. The blend of Bionicle and System parts here is flawless, the color use is perfect and the sculpting is divine, what a lovely season this is.
Darth Hauder
/This is the intersection of Star Wars, Spaceballs and Bionicle. Meet Darth Hauder, brainchild of builder Unijob Lindo. Now when you sense a disturbance in the force, you might want to check the Bionicle bin.
Hellhound
/I am continually impressed and amazed what Bionicle builders can achieve with that system. This large figure by Moko has tons of familiar shapes and parts, but combined in this fashion they are utterly transformed into an impressive and imposing character. The pose-ability of this MOC is stunning too, click through for more pics and check out Moko's blog.
Knight
/Humans sure are a quirky bunch aren't they? It's hard to believe at one point it was totally normal to clad yourself in a head-to-toe metal skin and go beat the crap out of someone else similarly encased. And for extra mobility, you could deck out your horse in similar alloy derma so you could both set out Spam-clad and ready for battle. As odd a concept as it it, you can't deny they looked badass, like this shiny Bionicle MOC by nobu_tary, huzzah!
Puppet And Puppeteer
/I won't begin to say that I understand the mythos and story behind these MOCs, I'm sure there's plenty going on here in that respect, but I haven't had enough tea or sleep. I will say when builder A Plastic Infinity posted Turaga Retei-atomn last week I was confused by the floating chains. But now it's clear, and pretty cool. What really caught my attention was there's a miniature of the first character in the second MOC, that's pretty genius.
Ghost Rider
/This is the awesome convergence of Bionicle, System, comic books and mad building skills. Meet Johnny Blaze, AKA Ghost Rider, he bargained his soul to save his father, and now fights evil while his head is a flaming skull. Now I don't want to start rumors, but building skills like this are uncommon, you don't suppose dennis qiu has struck some kind of bargain do you? Let's hope there's no hellfire involved though, LEGO melts at 221º.
Bionicle Horse
/You don't see much Bionicle on this blog. It's not that I have anything against it, it's just not generally an aesthetic that catches my attention. But this lovely horse MOC by nobu_tary totally caught my eye this morning. It's got a strength and weight to it that's fitting to a noble beast, and an armored and mechanical touch that makes it badass. Great pose-ability too.
Sandra Loves The 80's
/I'm a kid of the 80's. I wore parachute pants, listened to Duran Duran, watched MTV when they had music and kept my eyes on the skies for ICBMs. The proportions and color selection of this sexy bot by DViddy were the first thing that caught my eye. But it's the inclusion of a classic Sony Sport Walkman (which I also had) that put this over the top for me.
P1ng
/Builder Thirdeye88 was kind enough to share this with the people in the Google+ Hangout after the somewhat disastrous LiveBuild yesterday. It has to be one of the most slender and tallest character MOCs I've ever seen, yet it's packed with character and stands on it's own. My favorite detail has to be the soccer control handles as upper legs, that's some inspired building.
Abzumo
/This thing looks right out of a nightmare. It takes skill to make a Bionicle based MOC look this cool, and even more to make it actually look scary. You can practically hear the roar of this sinister looking winged Makuta from builder Pate-keetongu.
Sayomi
/Normally Bionicle MOCs don't do much for me, nothing against Bionicle, it's just not my thing. But when you add a good mix of System elements, a dose of clever building and a pinch of panache, you get something special. This is Sayomi by Thirdeye88. I'll let you click through for the full description of her, but I will give you this little nugget: "Brain Bug Boobs".
Vos-Ēon
/I know what you're thinking, it's either "Cool! Bionicle!" or "Umm, Bionicle?" I'm not certain why Bionicle is so polarizing, but when it's taken to this level who cares. If I had to guess this marvelous MOC by Brickthing is maybe 25% Bionicle, the rest is some crazy ingenious and intricate construction (seriously, look at the chest!). Regardless it's 100% LEGO and 100% friggin' amazing.
Mystical Shaman
/At it's core this is a pretty simple Bionicle frame, but you would never guess it from the final results. This MOC by Brickthing oozes character, from it's feet to it's mask. It's loaded with detail but not overdone, making it an amazing blend of simple and complex. And just about everywhere you look is some excellent part usage.
Silver Blade
/I know I don't feature Bionicle or Hero Factory often enough on the blog (or Technic, GBC, Military, SHIPS, Collaborations etc etc) but this MOC by Moko grabbed me by the pupils and throttled me. Check out the contouring and proportions on this guy! I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the pose-ability of this MOC since it's got ball and socket joints, but it's excellent.
