A new month is upon us which means more competitive building! Are you ready? Here’s the latest bunch of LEGO contests and challenges from all around the AFOL community for September 2025 to help you find some inspiration and motivation to build! There’s nothing quite like a theme or a prompt to take you out of your comfort zone and give you something new to try. Besides, contests are the perfect place to interact with other contestants and judges and get to know your fellow builders. And if you’re like me, a deadline helps make sure you actually finish!
We’ve listed them in order of deadline so you can plan your building time to the best advantage. Make sure to check the LEGO activity calendar for local challenges and events near you. Here at BrickNerd, some of our fondest memories, greatest building achievements, coolest trophies, and best friendships came from LEGO contests, so we really hope you try some of these out. We look forward to seeing what you build!
BDP Series 6 Mini-Build Competition
The Series 6 BDP sets are soon going to be available for pre-order – time to celebrate them with mini builds!
Deadline: September 19th
Prizes: Five winners will receive the model that their mini build represents (one per Series 6 model) + badges

Friendship-tember
Celebrate the LEGO Friends theme and the friendships we build through the community this September!

LEGO Photography Contest: Within the Castle Walls
Capture a scene that feels like it could happen in a medieval castle town – the title might suggest otherwise but your entry does not feature castle walls. Bustling marketplaces, tavern brawls, blacksmiths at work – as long as your entries features two or more minifigs interacting, it all is fair game for this fun challenge!
Deadline: September 30th

Shelltember
What better thing to follow up Frogust than Shelltember? Time to celebrate all things turtles, or anything with shells. We hope you have no shellfish allergy!

SHIPtember 2025
One month, one SHIP, one hundred (+) studs! Just do it.

Umbasa LUG Pirate Contest
The prompt is simple, but the possibilities are endless: Create a pirate-themed MOC sized between 10x10 and 16x16 studs – not quite a grand line, but surely perfect for a grand adventure!

We Arr Family Pirate Challenge
Time to celebrate the diversity of a pirate crew! Assemble three pirates with three different skin colors – a super simple prompt that will surely lead to some super creative submissions! You can even collaborate with up to two other builders, and digital builds and third-party parts are welcome, too!

Build What Your Avatar Needs
Imagine you are in a video game, about to start the final mission… Dun dun dun… What’s the cool thing that would assist you in that last level? As long as it’s not a direct copy from a real-life video game, your idea will be perfect for this contest!
